Passive Income: My Journey to $5K MRR
The "Passive" Myth
There is nothing passive about building software. You are the coder, the support agent, the marketer, and the janitor.
"Passive" only applies once the flywheel is spinning.
Product 1: The Failure
I spent 6 months building a complex project management tool.
Revenue: $0.
Lesson: Validate before building.
Product 2: The Hit (Auto Bulk Mockup)
Instead of a "new idea", I solved a pain point I had myself. I was tired of manually saving Photoshop files.
- MVP: Built a script in a weekend.
- Distribution: Posted on a specific subreddit for designers.
- Sales: First sale came in 4 hours.
The Stack
Keep it boring.
- Next.js (Frontend)
- Supabase (Auth/DB)
- Stripe (Payments)
- Resend (Emails)
Don't learn a new language for your startup. Use what you know.
